Governance
Northfields Community Library is governed by a board of Trustees who bring a wealth of experience and diverse skill sets from a variety of sectors. The Trustees are responsible for leading on events, marketing, community outreach, fundraising, volunteer management, securing partnerships, safeguarding, technology and finance. Their aim is to ensure that the Library offers continue to serve the local community in line with its needs.

Paul Driscoll
Paul Driscoll has worked in the education field, representing the university, further education and secondary school sectors, in a variety of roles for over thirty years.
He has supported and trained volunteers in different organisations, which required designing and delivering training programmes. In addition his work with volunteers in the education and voluntary sectors included recruitment, mentoring and a supervision role.
Paul is also a Local Councillor for Northfields Ward in Ealing with extensive contacts in the Northfields Area and a deep understanding of the community and its needs.

Alison Pegg
Alison has lived in Northfields for over 20 years and has always been a bookworm. She got involved with NCL when she realised our library would be closed if the community didn’t step in to save it.
She is now retired and was previously Head of Housing Regeneration for a local authority leading on the development of affordable housing.
She has felt having access to books and libraries when she was younger helped her to progress in her career and thinks it is really important we all work together to keep Northfields library going and to develop other community activities for everyone.

Alison Stewart
Alison Stewart has been a Northfields resident for 27 years.
She has worked in children’s media production for most of her career, twice at the BBC and also as a freelance producer, BAFTA nominated director and script writer, producing content for ITV, Channel 4 and Sky in the UK. Her most recent role at the BBC was Head of CBeebies Production and she also managed several international co-productions for the CBeebies channel.
Since 2018 Alison has worked on a number of development projects, as a freelance consultant, producer and script writer.
Alison is a member of the Children’s Media Conference Advisory Group, helping to curate the annual conference which hosts over 1200 delegates from around the world. She is also a member of BAFTA and of Action for Children’s Arts.

Tanya White
Tanya has worked for over thirty years in secondary education. Having trained as a English teacher, she held a number of roles in schools in Yorkshire, Berkshire and West London. She has twenty years experience of senior leadership, fourteen as a headteacher of a large mixed comprehensive school. In addition, she has held advisory roles (school improvement and literacy) in two London local authorities.
As an English teacher, Tanya has a wealth of experience in promoting the importance of literacy in enabling young people to maximise their potential and of literature to enrich lives, develop imagination and deepen our understanding of the world. She hopes to bring this experience and passion to her role as a trustee of Northfields Community Library.

Angela Bell
Angela Bell was a Deputy Head Teacher in London comprehensive schools before moving to Westway Trust as Education Director. There she raised funds and ran out of school classes and activities for children, young people and parents.
Since retiring from full time work, she has helped to establish the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education, and volunteered as a trained advice worker for Citizen’s Advice and the Carers’ Trust. She is a Trustee of Elfrida Rathbone Camden, and a former Chair of Ealing CVS.

Joy Doyle
Joy has been an Ealing resident for 15 years and has enjoyed living in the Northfields area. Access to libraries and the facilities they offer is essential; it is so important that future generations are able to access all kinds of literature.
Joy’s working life was spent in the pharmaceutical industry- working in scientific & leadership roles. Additionally she has volunteered in other local organisations.
Joy has always enjoyed losing herself in a good book! She hopes to bring her life experience along to the trustee team to promote Northfields Library as a community hub .

Maureen Boughton
Maureen worked in the TV sector for 27 years. Initially she worked at the BBC before she joined one of the leading independent television production companies where she was the Company Manager and a member of the Board of Directors. After leaving the TV world Maureen worked in a charity based in Westminster for 12 years which supported homeless young people and families living in unsuitable accommodation.
In both sectors Maureen held senior leadership roles and has experience of reporting to the Board of Trustees. Maureen is excited to be working with the local community to serve the local community and is keen to bring her skills and experience to her role as a trustee of the library. The library is a special local resource that is developing as a hub not just for reading opportunities but also offering support, information and learning activities to meet the local need.
Maureen has lived in the Northfields area for over 30 years.

Meena Shah
Meena has been an Ealing resident most of her life, growing up there was always a weekly trip to the library which encouraged her love of reading. She has always felt that access to this vital service stood her in good stead throughout her career.
She has worked in IT for over 30 years, predominantly in financial services, and has held various roles focusing on Risk and Regulatory Compliance, across a variety of organisations including Bank of England, Reuters, holding senior leadership roles in Royal Bank of Scotland and MS Amlin.
In her role as a Trustee and Treasurer she hopes to use her varied experience to benefit the local community by supporting the services and activities the library provides.
